Meet The Team

The event is made possible by Deaf volunteers who are passionate about mountain biking, making it accessible, and bridging together the deaf cycling communities across the nation. Meet our 2024 team below! In our bios, we tell you about our favorite trail systems and why we love Bikeboom. We look forward to riding with you in Grand Valley!

Hugh Carey

Role: Bikeboom Director
Homebase: Ridgway, Colorado
What is your favorite trail system? Summit County Colorado’s massive, connected trail system is my favorite. Nothing like the hundred miles of singletrack above the treeline, particularly the Colorado Trail segments, to the well designed MTB-focused features in the valleys. Summit County really got it all.
What do you love about Bikeboom? Connections with like-minded Deaf and ASL mountain flyers all weekend. It’s truly a chance for us to be in deaf spaces while recreating in the outdoors. I love how we make new friends each year.

John Klish

Role: Bikeboom Coordinator
Homebase: Grand Junction, Colorado
What is your favorite trail system? Lunch Loops in Grand Junction because it has everything: rocks, flows, climbs, descents, drops, views, and the mileage!
What do you love about Bikeboom? The gathering, seeing the sparkles in new and experienced mountain bikers when they learn new moves or find something new through mountain biking with us, and exploring places!

Dani Previ

Role: Registration Manager
Homebase: Elkridge, Maryland
What is your favorite trail system? Patapsco Valley State Park is my favorite trail system because that was when I was first exposed to mountain biking.
What do you love about Bikeboom? I love Bikeboom because I make connections with DHH riders from all over!

Nic Yopp

Role: HUB Coordinator
Homebase: Redmond, Oregon
What is your favorite trail system? Moab was awesome! Specifically the Portal. Intense with the shear drop on one side about halfway, but the last 3-4 miles was just full on extreme technical rocky trail. A joy to ride!
What do you love about Bikeboom? Deaf groups and mountain biking, what more can you say! Great place to meet new deaf peeps that share the love for mountain biking!

Jamie Moore

Role: Graphic designer
Homebase: Westford, Massachusetts
What is your favorite trail system? As an enduro rider, Thunder at Berkshire East in Charlemont for its technical rock terrain. Deerfield River Trails in the loam/rooty terrain with 5+ downhill trails that bring you a 2500-foot elevation gain within 9 miles.
What do you love about Bikeboom? It is a unity community! It is the one time to ride among other talented ASL riders and friends. Every rider I meet at Bikeboom have a passion for outdoor adventure filled with stories.

Bridget Berrigan

What is your favorite trail system? Coler MTB Preserve in Bentonville because it's some of the first trails I've ever ridden .
What do you love about Bikeboom? I love the gathering and meeting of other people and sharing the joys of being outdoors!
